ACCESS ALL AREAS with Rebecca Ridout ✨
[Rebecca]'s currently working on the Les Miserables UK & Ireland Tour as the Dance Captain AND Swing covering 8 (!!!) tracks!
I was very lucky because I followed her around on a show day where she had her dance captain tasks to do, but she was also on for the show in a 2 person split track...In all honesty I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone who’s more proud of their job and does it with such joy as Rebecca. She really showed me the love she has for theatre, the show and everyone around her. See/read the full post here.

LOCKDOWN LIFE
I wanted to include something on this site to acknowledge the testing year the industry has had and what I got up to in that time. Some days it was a lot, some days it was very little! I was very lucky that I got to perform again in the window of opportunity during winter, but up until that point I'd spent my days sanding and oiling shelves for a small business, being an Equity Dep, training and qualifying in Mental Health First Aid, volunteering with Crisis, joining in projects with MAD Trust, participating in singing courses with Dane Chalfin and most recently training to be a COVID Vaccinator and working for the NHS. In and amongst all of that, there was a lot of...well...not a lot. I'm proud of each day though as it got me through. I'm also incredibly grateful/indebted to Applause for Thought, The Royal Theatrical Fund & The Fleabag Support Fund for their help during this time. I look forward to using what I've learnt coming back into the industry -whether that's as a Mental Health FIrst Aider or with my improved vegan baking for backstage. |

WWJD REVIEW
"Williamson was joined by Elise Allanson, Lucy Clough, Rebecca Ridout and Joanna Thorne – and if the first half had variety with a capital V, the second was an opportunity for power songs and mellow melodies to reign supreme, bookended by a bolshy Beyoncé number, ‘Run The World (Girls)’, reprised at the curtain call...A buoyant production, it’s a confident celebration of life and freedom of expression, using show tunes to lift people’s spirits."

STATE FAIR REVIEWS
★★★★★
"This gold-plated, five-star musical theatre event could change the face (or at
least the sound) of how vintage musicals are heard and presented in the capital.
For its first public outing, it’s joined forces with some of the West End's finest
singers and actors to offer a luxurious wallow in the unfamiliar, but often tremendous, Rodgers and Hammerstein-scored State Fair." -The Stage
★★★★★
"The cast members themselves were a joy, consistent in their mid-West tongues, delivering the dialogue like natives, singing with assurance. In short, a true ensemble. The ensemble they led during ‘All I Owe Ioway’ was so infectious, on a par I’d say with the Act I finale, ‘It’s a Grand Night For Singing’." - Musical Theatre Review

LAUNCHING LMTO
Having spent the last year working with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra as a vocalist, Rebecca performed as part of LMTO's professional launch on 28th June 2016 at Bishopsgate Institute. "For some time behind the scenes, the London Musical Theatre Orchestra has organised rehearsal sessions for established musicians and new artists, with regular play-through sessions looking at scores old and new. At a gala event held at the Bishopsgate Institute, the LMTO announced it is turning professional, with a programme of public concerts in 2016 and 2017. The gala evening was an opportunity to showcase the full orchestral sound the concerts will offer, accompanied by some of the West End’s leading vocalists." - The Reviews Hub "The world's first professional orchestra dedicated to musical theatre has been launched. London Musical Theatre Orchestra will exclusively perform numbers from musicals in and around the capital. The group was founded in June 2015, when conductor Freddie Tapner posted a casual note on Facebook asking for friends to meet up and play through a musical. RE:ACT - THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE
Rebecca will be playing Lesley in 'The Game' written by Bella Barlow and Ali Smith for RE:act at the St James Theatre on 1st February 2016. RE:act brings together four emerging writers, directors and a group of actors to respond to the story, themes and characters within the first production of the St James' spring season – The Pianist of Willesden Lane. Written in 24 hours, rehearsed at quick fire speed and performed on the stage of St. James Studio, these impulsive pieces will then be followed by a conversation with an established theatre creative and there will be the opportunity for both emerging and established artists to meet post-show to further discuss ideas.
On previous RE:act evenings: “There was a different kind of anticipation, an excitement at seeing something so newly formed. The intimacy of the studio space and the presence of the creative team also heightened this sense of activity. As a regular theatregoer this difference was stimulating, and hearing the post-show discussion… only enriched the experience further.” Everything Theatre
The evening is curated by Alastair Knights who directed the sell-out 2014 main house production, Putting it Together, Matthew Keeler and Lauren McGee for St. James Theatre. For more information and tickets, please visit the website.

LOVE IS ETERNAL - REVIEW
"Love is Eternal is both new and fresh; with an exciting combination of talents weaving together every possible aspect of love with their harmonious 'Thread of Gold' connecting them to form a singular musical entity. The performance is brief, but in the hour that we share, we are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions, through tears of joy and sadness; through laughter, contemplation and reflection. The ensemble complement each other vocally and are matched with songs that suit both voice and personality – individually, and in different combinations. These four singers take us on the journey that has been so brilliantly written for them...
The performances themselves are without a weak link. Skilful in their abilities to take us through these short musical stories with only their voices, diction and presence; without prop or back drop. Rebecca Ridout’s rendition of ‘Dealing with it all’, an account of how, or how not she is dealing with her life’s problems is moving and perfect; Rebecca could sing a shopping list, give it life and make it sound emotional....
Love is Eternal is a refreshing, exciting, modern perception of the many different awarenesses of having that feeling called love. A perfect fusion of today’s finest Anglo/American talents creating a quirky, thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining song cycle."

THE NEXT BIG THING - PRESS
"A musical two-hander about a struggling writer cobbling together formulaic books, The Next Big Thing boasts big drag numbers and the standout voice of Rebecca Ridout." The Scotsman
"Rebecca Ridout is instantly likeable as the struggling writer, with a winning singing voice and warm presence, she holds the stage completely by herself." Bargain Theatreland
"Both lead parts were played really well and with a lot of easy likability. Ridout in particular was perfectly cast as the squeaky, anxious Helena and her gentle voice didn't overpower the subtle expression and tone of the writing." Broadway Baby

MOLLY WOBBLY - REVIEW
On Saturday 15th March, Rebecca went on to cover the role of Margaret in Molly Wobbly at the Phoenix Arts Club.
She received the following review from Faye Stockley via LondonTheatre1.com. Read the full review HERE.
"Ordinarily Leanne Jones (Olivier Award Winner for her work on Hairspray) plays the character of Margaret, however on Saturdays’ matinee we had her understudy Rebecca Ridout. Rebecca was superb as the rather uptight English wife... When she sang her solo piece “Designed by Margaret Brown” the room was silenced by her emotional interpretation...one of the pieces highlights."

WEST SIDE STORY
Rebecca has just returned from appearing as the 'Somewhere Girl' in the National Youth Music Theatre's production of West Side Story.
Here are some reviews for the production:
"There’s rawness and eagerness, vigour and danger in every step they take, and re-make; the usual critical language of dubbing it bold and breathtaking just won’t do. Instead, it does something even more vivid: it makes you look at the whole show in a new way. Never was I more keenly aware of how brilliantly Leonard Bernstein’s symphonic dance music provides its own choreographic inspiration and textures; the movement feels entirely organic and indivisible from the music....I dubbed that [Kiss of the Spiderwoman at Arts Educational] at the time “the best student musical production I’ve ever seen”, and this West Side Story may now have me transferring that accolade here. And if the Sadler’s Wells production got a five-star review from me, this one may have to get ten." Mark Shenton
"The production, directed by Nikolai Foster, unforgettably choreographed by Drew McOnie and sensitively conducted by musical director Tom Deering, is a show to cherish and cheer about....The Ibsenesque interruption from the mysterious Somewhere Girl (Rebecca Ridout) is stunning." - Musical Theatre Review
"Walking into the legendary Victoria Warehouse and sensing the simmering anticipation for the opening performance of NYMT’s production of West Side Story is a feeling I won’t forget in a long, long time....At times you forget this is a youth theatre, any West End performer would give their right arm to deliver performances like the ones we’ve seen tonight." - Manchester's Finest
"Perhaps the most powerful aspect of this show is the epic scale of the production and the talent of the young people in it. All of the company give striking performances, most are still in their teens, which suits the age of the roles they take on, however, their experience and talent seems to exceed their years" - Whats On Stage
"In its illustrious 37-year history—which includes a number of Edinburgh Fringe Firsts, BAFTA shortlisting for its TV adaptations and numerous international tours—it is difficult to imagine that the National Youth Music Theatre has ever been on better form than in its current production of West Side Story, staged at The Victoria Warehouse in Manchester." - British Theatre Guide

INTO THE WOODS
Rebecca has returned from appearing as the Baker's Wife in The Company Music Theatre's production of Into The Woods at the Lowry in Manchester.
Here are some reviews from the production:
"This production tells the story with great clarity, vital where the story and characters’ behaviour depart from our childhood knowledge of them... There are some stand-out performances. Rebecca Ridout sings and acts the Baker’s Wife superbly, convincing in her determination and momentary lapses." - Manchester Confidential
"The simplicity allows the audience to focus on the actors who develop their characters, particularly in the second half, where the youngsters really come into their own and showcase their versatility...The whole cast are excellent, with special mentions to Rebecca Ridout as the Baker’s wife..." - Whats On Stage
"As with many Sondheim musicals, the plot has more twists and turns than a Cornish country road, but the young cast carry off the complexities of the various roles with style and panache....Joshua Noon is a fine Baker and Rebecca Ridout is stunning as his feisty wife....Rebecca Ridout takes the role of the Baker’s Wife and makes it her own. She has a fine voice and is an excellent actor, meaning that she is one of the most endearing and appealing characters in the show." - The Public Reviews
